 Independence Community College is seeking applications for the position of Industrial Maintenance Technology faculty.  Independence Community College, a small, rural, residential community college in southeast Kansas, serves approximately 1500 full- and part-time students each year 

Position Summary
The Industrial Maintenance Technology Instructor is responsible for providing quality and industry-standard instruction in industrial systems topics through the use of seated, online, and lab courses. The Instructor will provide innovative and engaging instruction while ensuring that course topics and examples evolve with advancements in the field. This position will network with the regional industry to collaborate on a variety of projects through the Director of Advanced Manufacturing and Industrial Systems Technology Program Chair. The Instructor will assist the division in collaborating across curriculum and continuing education divisions to deliver courses that meet the needs of local industry partners and students.
This position will remain open until filled. 

Qualifications
Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline OR At least 3 years of relevant industry experience
 
Must have experience in the fundamentals of industrial controls, machining, electricity, mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and welding 
Must be able to read industrial schematics 
Must have experience in troubleshooting industrial equipment typical to an industrial production environment 
Previous teaching experience at a community college or university, experience using instructional technologies, and teaching online courses are preferred

Position Information 
The Industrial Maintenance Technology instructor is a 9-month faculty position.  The position reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.  Salary is commensurate with experience and credentials based on the Faculty Negotiated Agreement.

Industrial Maintenance Technology Faculty 

Primary Responsibilities 
1.      Instruct Industrial Maintenance Technology courses 
2.      Plan, budget and oversee department budget 
3.      Exhibit fiscal responsibility in budget development and implementation. 
4.      Display control necessary to deliver instructional programs in an efficient manner to provide access to quality learning experiences. 
5.      Give input into the college’s structural shared governance and supportive activities. 
6.      Work with instructors and college personnel to promote the college 
7.      Keep regular shop and office hours. 

General Responsibilities 
1.      Complete reports and communications in a timely manner for internal and external agencies. 
2.      Ensure the security of all ICC property under the supervision of this role. 
3.      Illustrate clarity of thought and expression in oral and written communications. 
4.      Communicate effectively with sensitivity to student learning styles and developmental needs. 
5.      Validate responsible work habits through collaborative and collegial social interactions. 
6.      Adhere to general rules of safety, procedures, and ethical job standards. 
7.      Show willingness and ability to assist in development of new programming (including fund development and recruitment). 
8.      Present expertise in content area and keep abreast of advancements 

Qualifications 

1.      Associates degree in field OR relevant work experience 
2.      An educational philosophy in alignment with a small, rural comprehensive community college. 

 
 

 

 

 

 
Compensation: $45,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
